Decapitation

At my work I am the one who gets up at the crack of dawn to go and open the store. One morning I walked in to work and everything seems as normal as can be, the store lights are off except for the back "break room" The one place that there's light, I walk in to put my stuff away, then out of the corner of my eye I see what appeared to be a person, headless, lying on the floor. I almost threw my bowl of oatmeal because I was so freaked out. What it actually was, a ranpak stuffed doll, with one arm. Night crew was bored and made it and used spare uniforms to give it the look of a person and left it lying around. All I could think about the entire day were episodes of Law & Order, or CSI stories I've read. I was totally jumpy the rest of the day.

That's the Magic

So this whole time I thought it was amazing how people were able to make changes on the blog, I had no idea how to do it. Today I signed into my gmail account before getting on the Sharp Kids blog, and with Claire's tech support over the phone discovered I could post. I feel very silly for not figuring it out faster.

Happy Birthday Rachelle!

I don't think that anybody who meets Rachelle ever forgets her. I even heard about about you, Rachelle, at the Minert family reunion from Steve's relatives. I'm finally getting used to people asking me all about you.

How would I describe my sister to those who don't know her? Rachelle is such a character. Rachelle has a huge personality; she can make anyone laugh. And she can be devious! Remember when you convinced us to run away from home, and all I brought was a cloth carrot for sustenance? You were our fearless leader, until we got to the end of our street and ran back home; I think I was also crying . . . Remember when you helped me sneak out of the house with some friends to "fork" a friend's lawn? Our friend thought the forks were so funny (as we hoped), and I never got in trouble for this from our parents so it was an all-around success!Remember when you used photography tricks to create a double image of Paul, and then convinced Paul (when he was very young and impressionable) that he had a twin that our parents got rid of for misbehavior. Poor Paul. Wait, poor me. Remember when you told me I should eat all of your peas because it would make me smarter and I did. Shame on you, picking on a little kid! In kindergarten, I wrote in an "All About Me" book that my favorite food was liver so you were probably helping me out with the peas. Fortunately, my palate has expanded and is much improved.

I can't believe your look of glee as you pushed Heather out of the bouquet competition. It's one of my favorite wedding pictures. I love it, and it makes me laugh every single time. I'm glad you came to my wedding.

Here's a story you'll appreciate. Dad and I were talking about ages for renting cars without paying the additional young driver charge. Dad asked me if I was 24. Of course, I'm not 24 so I had to explain how old you, Janae and I were. Oh yeah, he said, where has the time gone? He couldn't believe how fast we've all grown up. It's true. Time goes by quickly. I remember when you helped me style my bangs (curled in front, wall of bangs curled backwards and styled to cascade--classy!), and that you let me borrow your crimping iron. As the first born, you've always been at the forefront and done most everything first. I wanted to work at the Gap just like you did! As the first born, you've been subjected to our parents' first experiments in parenting. Sorry, they may have been more laid back with us younger kids.

I happen to think you've turned out quite well.

In computer networking, a domain name is a name given to a collection of network devices that belong to a domain which is managed according to some common property of the members or within a common administrative boundary. In particular, the term is used to describe the regions of administrative authority within the Domain name system used for the Internet (cf. DNS zone).

Domain names are used in a variety of contexts for identification, reference, and access to Internet resources. They can appear as components of Web sites' Uniform Resource Locators (URL, 'Web-address'), e.g. www.wikipedia.org, electronic mail (e-mail) addresses after the customary '@' separator from the user's name, or as any other part of a syntax that describes an access method to a device or service in an IP network.

Domain names are created out of a naming space and methodology that was first defined by Paul Mockapetris in IETF publication RFC 882 and RFC 883 (1983) and used in the first expansion of the ARPANET, a predecessor of today's Internet. The model prescribed a tree-like structure of named nodes starting from an unnamed root node (cf. DNS root zone) that was only designated by a full stop (period, dot, "."). The complete domain name of each node is the string of names of nodes leading to the root node, each separated by a dot. The sequence is written from left to right with increasing order of scope, e.g., node-d.node-c.node-b.node-a. When the full name path of a node is specified, the domain name is said to be fully-qualified (cf. Fully qualified domain name). Essentially your domain name is your sites URL or name, the domain name for the site you are on is www.blogger.com. Another fine example is www.google.com.

A Toothbrush Dilemma

We have been traveling for a while now and it is hard to keep track of everything but I found this picture and had an important memory. We went to Family camp in Georgia and stayed at Paul and Brooke’s house. John Danielle and I shared the house with 11 other people. After a couple of days Carlie and Matt moved but not before the incident. The incident is that I walked into the bathroom and saw my toothbrush with an unidentified hair elastic clip around its handle. I couldn’t remember if I had left it on the counter where it was or if I had left it in the cute little handmade cup with the other toothbrushes. Who’s hair thing was it? I guessed it was Carlie’s but does that mean that Carlie used my toothbrush? Does that bother me if she did? I don’t know. I asked Brooke what she thought. She told me not to worry about it- probably just one of the kids was playing with it in the bathroom. Then she paused. We both knew that the thought of the kids playing with it in the bathroom was stranger than of someone else using it. I was hoping that Carlie had thought it was her toothbrush then realized her mistake at this point.
I used John’s toothbrush that night. The next morning the hair thing was gone. Not from me because I didn't dare touch the toothbrush if someone else had claimed it as their own with a hair thing. A hair thing around the handle is a sign of ownership in my book. I wasn’t fast enough to get a picture of it. Who can solve the mystery of the pink toothbrush? In the end I decided it was time to buy a new toothbrush anyway- after all the pink one was over a week old.

Because I'm lame

Out of sheer desperation from bar study, I've turned to craft projects. Sure, craft projects are great--it's just not EVERYTHING life should be about. I mean, why would you want a craft project to be the ONLY thing you ever accomplish outside of getting out of bed in the morning--at the end of the day--it's still just a card, napkin, scrapbook, etc. I respect competence, not boredom. And no Martha Stewart does not fall into this description, because she built an amazing business empire--not just a card.

Unfortunately, now craft projects are the only thing I am able to accomplish in my life right now. Sure, I listen to bar lectures and take practice tests and questions until I want to poke my eyes out; but it doesn't feel like I'm getting anything done. ENTER CRAFT PROJECTS. I can finish a craft project. I can't attest to the crafts as satisfying my competence requirement.
