I need a new Bed

Doesn't everyone want a new bed? I really like the Turner collection from Restoration Hardware. Maybe I will try to get a job there next year for Christmas and save up money to get it. The Pottery Barn also had a Farmhouse canopy bed I like. There is a place out here that will make a custom bed for you, but I bet that is exceptionally expensive. The pottery barn bed is 1549.00 and the Restoration Hardware bed is 2725.00 I have also always wanted a wrought iron bed with all white bedding. Obviously this isn't the best plan with a baby that likes to walk around with strawberries in her hand, but it would be nice. The one I like is 1399.00 My friend Judi just got a new bed and it is super tall which I think could be pretty fun. These beds are nice because they have canopies. Now I have heard that the Restoration Hardware beds have really nice construction. I think I need that considering the fate of my last bed, which I might sell at a garage sale next weekend.
I've decided that our bedroom furniture is officially Danielle's and we are only borrowing it. That way our new bed doesn't have to match our old furniture. Of course we will have to buy all new bedroom furniture, but I think the first step is a new bed. They had one of these beds at the restoration hardware outlet but the canopy was off, which was sad. Too bad it's two hours away or I would keep checking back. Well there is my dream bed.

Free Fridays

Mother's Day gifts
This Friday my friend Allison and I went around and got free portraits of our daughters. Online at Sears and JC penny and the picture people and kiddie kandids you can print out a coupon for one free 8 by 10. Then you have an individual setting at each store and get your free 8 by 10. I joined the Sears Portrait club for ten dollars (thanks to the manager giving me a great deal) and then I get a free portrait every time I come in- even without a purchase. The woman told me I could come back every day if I wanted to get a free photo. Every day I could be there in the sweltering hot Sears Photo Studio with Danielle.
Danielle loves getting her photo taken. She always wants to be in the photo and kept trying to get in on Natalie's photo shoot. If you want to be invited to see her pictures at the picture people just let me know. She is wearing the shirt that she got from Peter and Kathryn for her birthday- I love it! It is so cute.

Here is something that I think is Brilliant and have had marked as one of my "Favorites" on Etsy for literally months. It is a custom felted duplicate of your pet. I would LOVE one of my baby Cleo. Seriously, this is the most awesome thing on Etsy. Here is a picture of some other cats that she has done; she has done like hundreds of these little pets. Neat!

Cleaning lady or Laundry Service?

When Karen Visited she said she had a cleaning lady- she works and so does T.J. I loved it. I think it is so smart and I wish I had money to do it. I looked around- for about 200.00 a week I could get three rooms cleaned and most of my house- by a certified house cleaner. I feel that there should be a separate Linda Sharp housecleaning certification- where she checks your bathroom cleaning skills. I am sure she was more rigorous than these other certifications. I guess if I am too much of a control freak to trust someone else to clean my house I won't end up with a cleaning service.
A1 sparkles in the philadelphia area looked like a good option but their website isn't very professional looking. I guess they are a family owned business which is supposed to be good. What I am really looking for this week though is a laundry service so I won't have to do the laundry. Academy Laundry Services does this which is exciting. They will pick up my laundry and deliver it back to me, clean. Unbelievable. I love it. The cleaning service winner? The Maids home services. They have a pretty snappy website and want me to call to get a quote. Of course I didn't because I can't really afford a cleaning lady, or let go of my belief that they won't do a fantastic job.
But I still want one.

1) My second toes are far longer than my big toes. In fact, if you were to cut off my second toe so that if made an even line with the two toes on either side of it, I would lose my entire toe nail.
2) My skin has been really dry around my eyes and nose since we moved here. Sometimes it actually has flaked a litte bit, and someone asked me if I was sunburned. I said yes, because I didn't want to start a conversation about my skin care while I was late for my train.
3) I have eaten two donuts today: a dutch crumble and a cinnamon cruller.
4) The first half of the rock climbing wall will be complete, holds and all, by tomorrow afternoon. Now all we need is a pad.
5) I get belly button lint, the color of my bath towel.
6) Yesterday was the first time in months I've been comfortable outside. It was beautiful.

Well Carlie Madsen thought of a great idea- she found a bunch of free stuff on craiglist and posted it. Here is a free couch I found- there is a free coach somewhere in provo so check it out. I could practice my budding upholstery skills on this couch. I guess I could get over the ugliness and just use it in my house. goodbye reclining couch hello free couch! In provo there is a place where you can have their rocks if you dig them out of their yard. Pretty cool. Craiglist rules.

2. I just finished watching The Island, I was supposed to keep watching it at work during my lunch breaks, but I got to a very exciting part of the movie that didn’t allow me to wait till tomorrow. It’s a very intense movie.

3. At work today, we were three people short, which meant it was a very fun day . . . .

4. I’m excited for Smokey (my dog) to get groomed so he’ll look more like a miniature schnauzer rather than a bearded mutt.

5. I keep putting off washing and vacuuming my car.

6. I cooked yesterday with Carol. It was great! I’m going to create “Cooking with Goggles” Which started as a solution for my problem with onions.

Six unimportant things about myself:

1. I am conflicted. I sometimes wish I still pumped breast milk for Danielle. Plus all those extra calories you get to eat- How will I keep losing weight?
   
2. I want more premium cloth diapers to make into burp cloths and I have considered using cloth diapers on my baby to cut down on waste. I wish I was enough of an environmentalist to do this, but I am not as hard core as the people I admire.
3. I still support Hillary Clinton for President and I have a water bottle from her campaign.
4. I have been trying to think of a way to steal Peter and Kathryn's Obama 08 sign for a while now. No Dice.
5. I am going to Cincinnati with John this summer and I am scared to meet new people! I don't like putting in the effort to make new friends.
6. I want to lose 50 pounds. The rest (!!) of the 80 pounds I gained in pregnancy. Shocking! I can't believe how much I gained- that's 30 more than Britney Spears' first pregnancy. Also my love of candy is not helping.

I'm 11 pages and two finals away from finishing law school. Just thought everyone should know.

Danielle is almost one!

I am so excited about Danielle's first birthday but I don't know what we should do for her birthday. I want to have a party but I still haven't been super social here. I found this cute cake print on etsy and I want it- how cute would little cakes be on the wall? How should I decorate the house? I bought Danielle a tutu. I want cute invitations. Basically this is like money Mondays Saturday edition.
I really want these cute stickers but what would I use them for? What do you do at baby parties? On etsy someone contacted Rachelle to give presents on their birthday and I thought that was a great idea.
Cupcake place holders are also the best. I think if Danielle is giving presents a little monster from CurleyQCutieswould be a good idea. they are so fun and really I just want more myself. Austin the Dog is always trying to steal the cute green monster that I got for Easter. It was going to be for him but I fell in love with it. He knows. But the monster is still mine. He needs a name. I am open to suggestions.

Heather and Tanner Poulter

Congrats Heather and Tanner Poulter!

It's about time I posted about Heather & Tanner. I absolutely loved their wedding, and I got so many ideas. I keep learning so many cute ideas for weddings from my friends--I wouldn't mind having another wedding celebration with Steve-that's how much I love wedding planning.

Yeah for aunt Kim!

The wedding was a sit-down dinner for 300 guests, and it looked amazing. It was so much work from everybody!!! I set plates, folded napkins, glue-gunned ribbon to vases, helped with flower arrangements, etc. etc. etc. Oh, and I'm in love with the candy favor table. Kim had so many great ideas for the wedding, and she made sure everything was perfect for her daughter. Heather sang the song "Feels like Home" to Tanner--she cried almost the entire time; it was really sweet. Congrats, again!

Craft Shows

Does anyone have any good craft shows in their area? I want people to buy my stuff more. I was thinking everyone could give me a suggestion for where I could sell them. There is a mommy market on Saturday that I thought about going to. Also if you refer people you get 5 dollars at my store for each person that mentions you at checkout. Ok I guess it isn't really all that fantastic when you could just call me on the phone and I would send you things for free family members.
Carol you really need to post something. I thought I should post this picture of Danielle. When she was sick she got really fussy one day and she demanded my mint milano cookie. I caved. I couldn't take the crying anymore so I put her in her high chair and gave her half a mint milano cookie. Here's how I figure it in terms of how valuable in mommy time Danielle's actions are
Empty the bottle bin- 1 minute
Empty all the other bins in the room- 5 minutes
Rip up all the magazines and bills from the binder on the shelf 7 Minutes (this one is tricky because the mommy time is over once she starts to eat the magazines.)
Harass Austin the Dog- 1 minute
Play in the water bowl and eat the dog food mom and dad forgot to put up. 10 minutes
Empty My Wallet- 5 minutes
Eat a cookie- 10 minutes

I haven't yet discovered how many minutes letting my child have a sucker will give me. Hopefully I will never have to find that out.
All together I get things done.

Money Mondays (Tuesday edition)

I put this on the blog for my siblings. I want to get a giant crash pad to go with the rock climbing wall in the garage. Now that a whole wall is functional, I am putting holds on it and want to put up some problems, but don't want to fall on the cement floor. Therefore, I am examining the following options: top, the triple mad pad from Mad Rock; middle, the mondo crash pad from Black Diamond; bottom, the behemoth from Metolius. These pads range from $200-$400 (about), so it might be a while before I get one. I keep wanting to make a janky one out of scrap foam, cardboard and a tarp but Janae keeps pointing out good reasons that might be a bad plan. Perhaps not as practical as clothing or appliances, but hey, this is money monday.
